AOGND is the ground reference signal for the analog output channels. DACOUT as well as EXTREF is referenced to AOGND. The external reference signal can be either a DC or an AC signal. The device multiplies this reference signal by the DAC code, divided by the full-scale DAC code, to generate the output voltage. Figure 4-2 shows how to make analog output connections to the device. Figure 4-2. Analog Output Connections Digital I/O Signal Connections The digital I/O signals are DIO and DGND. DIO are the signals making up the DIO port, and DGND is the ground reference signal for the DIO port. You can program all lines individually to be inputs or outputs. Caution Exceeding the maximum input voltage ratings, which are listed in Table 4-2, can damage the device and the computer.
